What We Feed SKY and Why We Changed His Food

When SKY came home at 52 days old, he was already eating Royal Canin Starter Puppy food. We did not question it at that point. We simply continued with the same food for about 10 to 12 days, because consistency matters when a puppy settles into a new home.
Once SKY got comfortable, we slowed down and started reading. Properly. Labels, ingredients, sourcing, pricing, and how these foods actually reach India.
That is when things stopped making sense to us.
Why We Moved Away From Popular Imported Brands
We are not here to attack brands. We are here to make informed choices for SKY.
After researching deeply, we realized something uncomfortable. By the time imported dog food reaches India, a huge part of what we pay goes into import duties, distributor margins, dealer commissions, and marketing. When we stripped all that away, the actual food value inside the bag felt shockingly low compared to the price we were paying.
What bothered us more was the lack of clarity. No proper ingredient transparency. No clear primary meat source mentioned in a way that builds confidence. For a 52 day old Golden Retriever puppy, that did not sit right with us.
At that point, we knew we had to change.
How We Found the Food That Works for SKY

We spent days reading. Comparing. Asking questions. Looking beyond hype.
That is how we landed on Slobberman.dog All Breeds Puppy Dry Dog Food.
We did not switch overnight without thinking. We studied their philosophy, ingredient sourcing, and nutritional breakdown in detail. Everything checked out for us as pet parents who care deeply about muscle growth, digestion, skin health, and long term well being.
We slowly transitioned SKY to Slobberman.dog puppy kibble and watched closely.
The difference showed.
Why This Food Made Sense for SKY

What we liked immediately was the focus on high protein without unnecessary calories. Golden Retrievers grow fast, and muscle quality matters more than just weight gain.
This food uses a 5x whole protein complex built from real sources like chicken, sardines, lamb, eggs, and peas. Not just muscle meat, but internal organs too. Heart, liver, kidney, cartilage, and egg shells bring natural amino acids, calcium, glucosamine, and chondroitin into the bowl.

For fats, they use sardine oil for Omega 3 and rendered poultry fat. SKY’s coat started showing that shine naturally.
Digestion mattered a lot to us as well. The carbs are gluten free and chosen for satiety and gut comfort. Rice and potatoes form the base, supported by carrots, beetroot, chicory root, psyllium husk, yeast extract, ginger, and yucca root.

The same kibble we can continue till the age of 18 months of age.
We feed him the following as home made food as well
Daily Addons
- 1 to 2 cups of Curd
- 2 Eggs (scrambled or boiled)
- 1 to 2 tablespoons of pumpkin seed powder
- Evening fruit snacks (Watermelon, Pineapple, Papaya, Guava, Apple)
Supplements
- Calcium Syrup
- Omega 3,6 and 9
- Multivitamin, Multimineral, Amino Acid Syrup
The Chicken Organ and Vegies Soup
The ingredients we use are follows;
- Chicken Heart
- Chicken Meat
- Chicken Liver
- Chicken Stomach (gizzard)
- Sweet Potato – (Purple and Cream)
- Pumpkin

- Carrot
We cook these in a pressure cooker without any spices or bone and feed him twice daily. You can make adjustments based on your golden retriever puppy age and weight.
We feed him 3 times the puppy dry food kibble along with home made food (We do not feed him any rice or any kind of grain at all).
The result for SKY
- Better digestion
- Consistent stools
- Less smell
- Happy tummy
- Steady energy
- Consistent growth
You notice these things only when you live with the dog every day.
Why We Still Use This Food Today

We did not change again because there was no reason to.
SKY eats this food even now. His muscle development stays steady. His coat stays clean and shiny. His skin stays healthy. His poop stays predictable. That alone tells us we made the right choice.
We always say this clearly.
This is not sponsored.
This is not marketing talk.
This is simply what works for SKY.

A Gentle Note From Us

Every puppy is different. What works for SKY may not suit every dog the same way. Use this as a reference, not a rule.
If you want to change your puppy food, make that gradual introduction portion by portion.
Our only intention here is simple.
Share what we feed SKY.
Explain why we chose it.
Let you decide with clarity.
That is how we raise him. With care, consistency, and love.
